Introduction

In June 2019, Maria Klawe (Klawe), President of Harvey Mudd College (HMC) , California, US, announced that the college had achieved a milestone in gender parity with 50 percent of the graduates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for 2019 being women. HMC had also made great strides toward inclusion and diversity in its faculty profile. As of 2021, the faculty profile was 64 percent women and 66 percent ABLN. It was thanks to the consistent efforts and initiatives of Klawe, who had joined as President of HMC in 2006, that the college had achieved gender parity, inclusion, and diversity both at the student and the faculty level..
